Points of Note in this article... The romantic notion of the tri-pointed star having a German star as WDC makes a lot of sense as Rosberg has a lot more language skills that can be capitalised on in marketing campaigns when compared to the Englishman...

#F1 News: Austrian Grand Prix - Wallpaper

The eighth wallpaper in The 2014 Series of Victor's Celebrations is for Nico Rosberg who won The Austrian Grand Prix (held at Spielberg). He demoted both Williams' drivers and was pressured by team mate Lewis Hamilton at the close...

2013 Austrian WallPaperNotable Points: Williams' drivers Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas closed out the front row with The Brazilian driver on Pole in the dying seconds of Qualifying. Mercedes Nico Rosberg posted third quickest time with team mate Hamilton starting ninth after his time was disallowed on crossing the the track outline. He later had a spin and much was expected of him in the race...

DETAIL: It was Felipe Massa who maintained his lead into the first corner with Bottas giving chase. Nico Rosberg followed in sequence. Further back - Lewis Hamilton made a meteoric start and the Mercedes was lying fourth at the end of lap one. This was looking really good as a competition looked to be underway between both Williams and Mercedes drivers...

The race was not typical of the Mercedes dominance we knew of earlier in the season and the two Mercedes drivers had to rely on superior stratgey to get them to the head of the field.

The race for the win by Williams never materialised as Rob Smedley stated before the race that they were expecting a big haul of points. It should be noted that he did not specifically state that the Williams Team was going for a win. This duly came to be... as both Mercedes drivers hauled themselves up, into the leading two positions with the Williams duo following in their wake after the pit stops.

It must be noted that Lewis Hamilton's stops were slightly tardier than Nico Rosberg and there were mutterings amongst the conspiracy theorists that Mercedes was already favouring having a German World Champion in 2014. The romantic notion of the tri-pointed star having a German star as WDC makes a lot of sense as Rosberg has a lot more language skills that can be capitalised on in marketing campaigns when compared to the Englishman... He only speaks English!

It must be admitted that Lewis finished roughly about the same time (lost in both stops), behind Rosberg admitting that he never had a chance to overtake.

Valtteri Bottas drove an intelligent race in what appeared as a drive of great maturity to score 15 points for third. Felipe Massa finished fourth scoring a further 12 points and this team appears to be on the cusp of a resurgence in performance and point scoring ability. This is good to see as the Williams Team has been in the doldrums for what seems to be too long...

A point worth making here is the ensuing psychological battle between The Mercedes team mates. A lot is being said about Nico Rosberg having a killer instinct. We would surmise that the German is besting his English team mate by driving intelligently using his brain and ensuring that wear and tear on the mechanical components of the car are sympathetically considered. Of course it does not hurt to damage Hamilton's reputation as being the fastest on the grid by beating him and Nico Rosberg now has a 29 point lead at the head of the championship for drivers. Eight races down and a win in hand with a 100% finishing record does not seem a bad way to establish the lead as it is...

Nico Rosberg's progress through the weekend is below:
