    OFFICIAL #WEC Report: Audi - 24h Le Mans - Race Facts (Hour 1-3)

    Last year’s winner Lotterer leads in Audi R18 e- tron quattro. McNish and di Grassi in positions four and five. Lenghty caution period allows only two proper racing laps.

    The Start
    Ingolstadt/Le Mans, 22 June 2013 - After the first hour of racing Audi lead the Le Mans 24 Hours. The sister cars are trailing André Lotterer in positions four and five respectively.

    At the start of the 81st edition of the endurance classic, last year’s winner André Lotterer driving the #1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro took the lead ahead of his team mate Allan McNish who had started the race from pole position.

    When the Safety Car came into play on lap 3 after an accident of a GT car, positions behind Lotterer were frozen. McNish followed in fourth position, trailed by Lucas di Grassi who had started the race in the #3 Audi R18 e-tron quattro.

    Owing to rescue operations and subsequent repairs of the armco, the Safety Cars did not pull in before the end of the first hour.

    Audi - 24h Le Mans - Race Facts (Hour 2)

    Audi in positions two, four and six. Exciting battle between #2 and #3 Audi R18 e-tron quattro. Race has been resumed after long safety car period


    Ingolstadt/Le Mans, June 22, 2013 - After two hours at the 24 hours of Le Mans the three Audi R18 e-tron quattro cars were racing on positions two, four and six. In contrast to the competitors, the hybrid cars had already done their second pitstop at that time.

    Just after 16:00 hrs the race at Le Mans has been resumed after a safety car period which lasted almost one hour. One lap after that the teams did their first pitstops. Audi was leading by 1-2-3 at that time. The spectators then saw an exciting battle between Allan McNish and Lucas di Grassi changing positions several times.

    After two hours of racing André Lotterer was in position two, Allan McNish in position four and Lucas di Grassi in position six.

    Audi - 24h Le Mans - Race Facts (Hour 3)

    Audi 1-2-3. Slight rain sets in repeatedly.

    Ingolstadt/Le Mans, June 22, 2013 - Audi heads into the fourth hour of the race with a 1-2-3 lead. André Lotterer in the #1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro is in top position ahead of his team mates Allan McNish and Lucas di Grassi.

    After 41 laps and three scheduled pit stops, Lotterer led the race by 40 seconds from the two sister cars. Rain repeatedly set in and caused tricky circuit conditions.
