#F1 News: Ecclestone missed Turkey with kidney infection

Jun.8 (GMM) Bernie Ecclestone watched the Turkish Grand Prix from his lounge room in London.

The F1 chief executive, who is the leaseholder of the Istanbul circuit, was forced to miss the weekend's action due to a kidney infection.

He took the opportunity to share his experience of watching a race from home on his 60-inch television with a reporter of the Daily Express newspaper, and revealed that he rarely watches a Formula One car greeted by the chequered flag.

"I go on the grid, watch the start and get out. My job is done. I'm better off in the office first thing Monday, to see how we can improve things and make more money," said Ecclestone, 78. "The teams like that."

The British billionaire said he was pleased to see Mark Webber on the podium.

"People tend to overlook him a bit too much," Ecclestone said of the 32-year-old Australian.

Bernie is openly keen on Felipe Massa, but less convinced by the Brazilian's Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen. "Not sure," he confesses when asked about the Finn.

"If he didn't have a contract for next year, I'm not sure Ferrari would retain him. Right now, Alonso, Lewis, Vettel and Jenson are best," said Ecclestone.
