WILLIAMS F1 TECHNOLOGY FEATURED AT DESIGN MUSEUM EXHIBITION.
31 July 2012. Grove, UK. Williams F1 has seen two of its cutting edge technologies unveiled at London’s Design Museum as part of the Designed to Win exhibition.
A Williams F1 car and Williams Hybrid Power electromechanical flywheel feature in the exhibition that explores the various ways in which design has shaped the sporting world. Designed to Win charts key moments where design has played a significant role in progressing sport from performance, safely and fashion to new materials and technology. It runs from 26th July until November 18th at the museum situated near Tower Bridge on the River Thames.
The Williams Formula One car exhibit outlines to visitors the 10 key design features of a Formula One car, explaining the technology involved in making each piece and the performance benefits they each bring. This includes car parts such as brakes, wheels, drag reduction systems (DRS) and front impact structures.
The Williams Hybrid Power flywheel on display is the same design that helped power Audi to victory at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. The flywheel is located next to the history making Audi R18 e-tron quattro, demonstrating to visitors the way in which hybrid technology is gaining increasing traction in motorsport as well as other applications such as public transport.
